01 Jun Tish’s June Tips
TIP 1: Spring blooming shrubs generally set flower buds for the next season soon after the blooms fade. Of course, it’s always better to prune these shrubs immediately after they finish flowering, but you can usually prune up until about June 1st without affecting next year’s bloom.
TIP 2: Remove faded flowers on annuals and perennials to promote blooms.
TIP 3: Prune climbing roses after they bloom.
TIP 4: Reduce mosquitoes by checking your property and eliminating areas which could lead to standing water or places where small puddles or pools of water tend to collect and make perfect mosquito breeding sites.
TIP 5: Pinch back mums through July 15 so they stay bushy, not leggy.
