Tip 4: A clean garden is a healthy garden. Fallen leaves harbor insects and fungi waiting to come back out next spring. Composting those leaves will kill off the detrimental organisms and can be returned to garden beds as compost to enrich the soil.
TIP 5: Prune fall-flowering shrubs & vines just after blooming.
TIP 6: Protect tender plants from frost with a good layer of mulch. Remember don’t mulch right up to the trunk of trees. Leave a 1-2″ space between the trunk and the beginning of your mulch.
