TIP 1: Apply a second fertilizer application to fescue lawns.
TIP 2: Before bringing house plants indoors, rinse the plant leaves, soak pots in water for 15 to 20 minutes to drown most soil-dwelling pests, apply second application of systemic insecticide.
TIP 3: Fall is the best time of the year for moving most plants. Transplant deciduous trees and shrubs when they are dormant. Evergreen trees or shrubs, however, may be transplanted earlier in the fall, before they go dormant.
TIP 4: A clean garden is a healthy garden. Fallen leaves harbor insects and fungi waiting to come back out next spring. Composting those leaves will kill off the detrimental organisms and can be returned to garden beds as compost to enrich the soil.
