CLIMBING SPINACH ~ Here is one of our favorite plants because of the flowers,texture and color of the leaves and if you like spinach, you can eat it. Malabar spinach will grow well in a variety of soil conditions and in part shade, which increases the leaf size, but it much prefers hot, humid and full sun exposures.
Malabar spinach also needs moisture to prevent the blossoming, which will turn the leaves bitter. You decide, spinach to eat or a cool vine with neat flowers. Two plants are sufficient for most families through the summer and fall growing season. It can even be grown up the same trellis as peas, truly utilizing the garden space.
